EESERA.EXE
Refer to Engine.Doc, which is included in the pre-release
version of Echomail Engine V 0.30. Due to the fact that
Backbone Operating Procedures calls for Technically correct
Message date stamps, and not all processors support this, this
release is designed to 'FIX' Messages in HUDSON format message
bases and then Scans them out of the bbs in oMMM bundling
format. It does NOT terminate the packets as in this utility
that is the job of EEPacker, just prior to compression.
If you are getting complaints from Tony Davis (Z1EC) regarding
bad message date stamps, Echomail Engine will likely be able to
resolve this problem until the author of the utility you are
using can fix it for you. The code feels solid, but only a
dozen or so people have used it, and this is not a planned
release, but a necessary one. Hopefully, the authors of the
non-compliant software will have their end fixed shortly.
To use this software, you will need the entire release of
Echomail Engine, which can be requested either from your local
SDS, or from this system at the following Fidonet Addresses:
Filename: EE_030.ZIP or EE_030.LZH or EE
1:103/200 714-539-1246 <HST with 2 lines rollover>
1:103/203 714-539-5294 <2400> <Rolls over to 103/200>
In advance, I would like to appologise in advance if this
scanner causes problems on your system. This release would not
be happening if not for the changes occuring at the backbone
level, and the requirement for Message date stamps to be
correct. In the long run this program that will be used on the
backbone level will benefit the network as a whole, by
eliminating dupes that cannot be detected through normal means,
and to improve the overall reliability of the backbone, and in
addition to reduce the cost of distribution of echomail. When
an incorrectly formatted Message date stamp is seen, GMD detects
it as a dupe. Hopefully this utility will increase the
reliability of the mail leaving your system if you are being
notified of problems. A future _complete_ release will be ready
sometime before the end of this year.
USage: This utility is designed to fit into the Scanner portion
of the shell environment, and installation into EE V 0.30 is
easy. Add the following line to EE.CFG
Scanner_Cmd EESERA.EXE SCAN
The SCAN portion of the command is at this time ignored But a
future release will include a TOSS command, as this portion of
the engine is the parser. It is alias aware, and pointnet aware
similar to QM 1.00, in that pointnets never go to 'real' nodes
in the seen-bys. If you chose to use this program in the
engine, and have difficulties, please request EE_Support from
your local hub.
Thanks for your patience,
Joe Jared, Author - Echomail engine.
